How do you locate where your passport is?
Q. I applied for a passport back in February. Due to a high volume of passport applications, receiving a passport has been bumped up to 10 weeks. We are leaving for our honeymoon May 7th. I just looked at the government website for passports and it said my fiance and I's passport have been received and processed. Then they game me a passport locator number. My question is, how do I use the number they gave me to find out where our passports are?

Is my passport still valid to travel to the Philippines?
Q. I am planning a vacation to the Philippines on April 2010 for a 1 month visit. My passport expires on July 2010. I am a Filipino citizen and a permanent resident here in Canada. Is it still valid for me to travel there, having only a 3 month validity for my passport?
Asked by jasmin - Thu Feb 4 23:32:07 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. For a Philippine passport holder, traveling to Philippines even when your passport is about to expire in less than a month is not a problem. The 6 month rule applies only to travelers visiting a foreign country. However, you might want to ensure that you get your old passport back when you apply for the new one if it is connected to the residence permit you have for Canada otherwise you possibly will have trouble re-entering Canada.

A. "Hi"...Go before June 1st if you don't have a Passport simple as that ...have some picture I.D and a Birth Certificate for presentation to U.S. Customs! On June 1st. and after you are hooped as U.S Customs will be adament about having one as it's law. As far as Canadian customs goes...you'll have to prove you are Canadian on your return home which shouldn't be difficult ! I mean let's face it , you are not going to be denied if you are a Canadian regardless if you have a Passport or not. Happy camping and glad to help ! *S* (Michael C...)

What is the most useful passport and nationality to have?
Q. In terms of travelling around the world without having to obtain visas pre-arrival, alongside fewest restrictions in general, what is the most useful passport and nationality/citizenship to have? In other words, what passport will grant you easiest entry to the most countries and territories? And is there any other passport which might be best for working in the country, but not travelling?

Q. My 10 month-old is traveling to Indonesia. He was born in the US. He also has Indonesian passport. Which passport should he use? If we continue travel to some other south east asian countries (ie Singapore/Malaysia/Thaila nd) from Indonesia, which passport should he use? Anyone has recent experiences?

A. Indonesian passport will allow him to enter South East Asian (SEA) countries without visa while using USA passport may cost you visa arrangement & costs to enter SEA countries. I think it is wiser to use Indonesian passport to enter Indonesia & SEA countries then using USA passport when returning to USA.

A. A passport is valid the day it is issued. The '6 month rule' refers to advice to replace you passport if it expires within the next six months. (Many countries issue visas on a six month basis and will not issue you a visa if you pasport expires before the visa will.)

A. Passport is a very sensitive document as far as national security is concerned. You should immediately file an FIR in the Police station and carry a copy of the same to the passport office. You should better go to the issuing passport office and talk to the passport officer and tell him / her your story. They might ask you to give details like name, father's / mother's name, residential address etc. I think, with the help of the above, they may track down your passport number and may issue a duplicate on applying afresh...

How To Get a Passport Quickly From My Post Office Without Stress?
Q. I'm an 18yr old male, college student, residing in Los Angeles California and on July 3rd am going to be in China for about 4 weeks. This is my 1st time travelling outside the United States and have never obtained a passport. Therefore am completely clueless on how to obtain one; especially in a shorter amount of time since the trip is a mere six (6) weeks away. Luckly I live about 2 blocks from a post office and I know they do passports there but can someone fill me in on what I need to do to get one? Especially in this short amount of time? What do i need, when do i need it and how soon? Is there anyway I can speed things up by doing them online? Website links and valuable information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

A. You need your actually birth certificate (not the one from the hospital but the real one from the county with the stamp, no copies allowed), and $100. They can take your picture there, you can fill it out there and off it will go. They can tell you if you need to spend a little extra to expedite the passport so you should bring your e-ticket from the airline with you. You might even need to make an appointment and go to the federal building to get it. Passports are taking about 3 months to process right now. You need to go the post office as soon as you can and sorry but you can't fill out any of it on-line.

A. A US passport is used for travel anywhere in the world -certain destinations require a separate visa The passport card is a wallet-size card that can only be used for land and sea travel between the United States and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. The card will provide a less expensive, smaller, and more convenient alternative to the passport book for those who travel frequently to these destinations by land or by sea

Do you need a passport to buy plane tickets to a foregin country?
Q. I don't have a passport, but I need to buy tickets so I can get the passport! (They need proof of travel for one day service). I have to get my passport like NOW, so I want to buy tickets to Austrailia but I don't know, do you need a passport for that? I don't want to go all the way to the airport just to find out I can't buy tickets without a passport. I'm buying from Air Canada. I know you need a passport to take the flight, but to simply buy the tickets do you need a passport for that?

A. No, you don't need a passport to buy plane tickets as long as you're travelling within the borders of United States. But travelling outside of USA is completely a different story. Even crossing the border of US and Canada, the government will soon require a passport. Going anywhere in Europe and Asia it is imperative that you have a passport. My advise to you is to get a passport if you're planning on travelling anywhere outside of USA.

Q. A friend of mine asked me if i was interested in doing a road trip to Canada. I am, however, my passport expired about 2 years ago.. I am a USA citizen, in the state of CT. Any thoughts on how i can get my passport renewed by the 15th of April? I am 20 years old and am not a criminal. Their is no reason I should not be able to get a passport. The only factor is time.

A. Since you want to go within 2 weeks, you'll have to go to a regional passport agency. There's one in Norwalk (CT). You'll need to schedule an appointment

A. The fastest way takes 3 weeks by mail. You would be able to do it faster in person in the US but I am not sure for Indonesia. Call the National Passport Information Center and ask 1-877-487-2778
